Some of the work displayed here was created in response to a monthly theme suggested for members of Stroud Artists Books. The support and encouragement I receive from this group is huge. I am also a member of The Bookband collaborative group and this is informing my individual work and contributing to my inspiration and creativity.

No Thing So Ordinary - a celebration of the joy of scientific knowledge
Made during a course with Sue Doggett at City Lit, this book uses a piano hinge structure. It is inkjet printed on Bockingford Watercolour paper. The contents depict wonders of the natural world and the title paraphrases a quotation from Lee Smolin.

Exposure
A book from hand-made glassine envelopes that each contains a card and legend describing how much of a substance is fatal. The cards incorporate many of the elements, such as salt, coffee and lemon. Hand-drawn cover and internal card images with hand-made bead.

A double-faced set of pages that define the types of nouns and my imagined opposites, for example, Abstract Nouns and Concrete Nouns. With arbitrary examples.

A panel structure from Hedi Kyle playing on the different uses of the word Cut: cut up, cut down, cut across, etc. The cover is woven paper.

Japanese stab bound book of 26 pangrams. Cover and pages digitally designed and printed. Linen sewn. Edition of 3.

Babel Fish
Meobius strips with information about the Babel Fish (from Douglas Adams' Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy) fixed with a screw and embellished with an origami fish. Each strip holds a sentence from the book excerpt written in English on one side, and a different language on the other.

I Come From...
4 books and jack-in-the-box
4 hand-made books showing how we got here, from the big bang through DNA to the exploration of space. The books are held in spaces around the box, which contains a jack-in-the-box. Mixed media including digital printing, embroidery and box-making techniques.

Holy Smoke
A stash box made from a found box, hand drawn smoke on lid. Inside are smoking components and a rolling machine. The "tobacco" is shredded pages from Deuteronomy. A book is produced by rolling a cigarette.

A collection of 4 hand-made and bound triangular books featuring the lyrics of my favourite songs, which fit together within an old double CD case
